A sweet and festive twist on a butter board, this fun snacking spread is the perfect treat for holiday get-togethers.
Ingredients
- For the maple cream cheese frosting:
- 8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
- ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3 Tbsp. Pasolivo Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup
- ½ tsp. vanilla extract
- ½ tsp. Pasolivo Kosher Flake Sea Salt
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- ½ jar of Pasolivo Spiced Apple & Pumpkin Spread For garnish:
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, cubed
- 12 sage leaves
- 2 Tbsp. pomegranate arils
- 2 Tbsp. toasted walnuts
- Pasolivo Himalayan Pink Salt, to taste
Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese and butter. Beat with a mixer until light and fluffy, scraping down the bowl a few times.
- Add the Pasolivo Bourbon Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup, Pasolivo Kosher Flake Sea Salt, and vanilla. Beat again until combined, then add the powdered sugar. Start the mixer on low, then increase to full power and beat until light and smooth, about 2 minutes, scraping the bowl as needed. Chill the frosting in the fridge while making the fried sage.
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the sage leaves. Brown the butter, scraping the bottom of the pan occasionally to keep the milk solids from burning. When the foam subsides, pay close attention. The milk solids will drop to the bottom of the pan and turn golden and fragrant, about 5 minutes in. Pull the pan off heat a bit early, as residual heat will continue to brown the butter.
- Remove the sage leaves and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate. Set aside. Let the browned butter cool for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, assemble the board.
- Spread the frosting in decorative swooshes across a medium-sized serving board. Dollop with spoonfuls of the Pasolivo Spiced Apple & Pumpkin Spread. Lightly mix it into the frosting, creating ribbons of the pumpkin apple spread throughout. Careful not to overmix!
- Drizzle the browned butter over the frosting, then garnish with the fried sage, pomegranate, walnuts, and Pasolivo Himalayan Pink Salt.
- Serve with an assortment of cookies, crackers, and fruit for dipping. Enjoy!
